We will be welcoming winemaker Andrew Nielsen from Le Grappin in Burgundy to Foreign Cinema as our guest sommelier for the evening during our dinner service. This event is throughout our dining rooms so there’s no need to purchase a ticket, the dinner menu will be all be a la carte with the wines available by the glass, carafe & bottle!
Nielsen is leading the charge of young, forward-thinking winemakers in a region known for it’s historic wines & storied producers. He takes care to seek out often overlooked or under-appreciated areas in Burgundy & works closely with viticulturist in locations like the Mâconnais & Beaujolais, as well as the Côte de Beaune. Nielsen works by hand with small lots, ensuring that each wine receives the same care & attention as the vineyards. The resulting wines are serious & well-made but still sold at accessible price points. Renowned wine writer, Jon Bonné named Le Grappin in his recent article “Ten Rising Stars of Burgundy.” The Grappin wines have also been heralded by Jancis Robinson as one of the new guard in Burgundy – her writing was actually what drew our wine director Shannon Tucker to the wines, originally having individual bottles shipped from the UK to try. During dinner service, Nielsen will be on the floor pouring his wines & available for questions or just to chat.
Guests who would like to speak with the winemaker or receive special recommendations should indicate in the notes of their online reservations or kindly let the reservationist know.
