(SAN FRANCISCO, May, XX, 2016) — Foreign Cinema, in partnership with the Interfaith Center at the Presidio and The McDonald Peace Project, is proud to announce a memorable dinner and screening of the award-winning documentary The Ghost Army, along with a presentation of Remembered Light: The McDonald Peace Project, on Monday, June 20, 2016 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The Ghost Army tells the true story of a top-secret American WWII deception unit that used inflatable tanks, sound effects, and illusion to fool the Germans on the battlefields of Europe. “We are honored to partner with the McDonald Peace Project and Interfaith Center at the Presidio for this unique experience,” says Foreign Cinema’s partner Bruce McDonald. “I feel a special connection to The Ghost Army as my granduncle, Frederick McDonald, was the chaplain of the 12th US Army Group Special Troops, which included the men of The Ghost Army in WWII.”
This private event takes place in Foreign Cinema’s Modernism West Gallery and begins with a cocktail reception and book signing with Rick Beyer, esteemed film producer of The Ghost Army and co-author of “The Ghost Army of World War II,” followed by a three-course dinner created by Executive Chefs/Owners Gayle Pirie and John Clark.
The evening includes:
6:00 p.m. Cocktail reception and book signing (complimentary beer & wine; cash bar available)
6:45 p.m. Introduction by event hosts: Interfaith Center at the Presidio and the McDonald Peace Project (featuring a video with Fred McDonald)
7:00 p.m. Introduction and presentation by Rick Beyer
7:15 p.m. Dinner and screening of The Ghost Army
